25 May 2016 - Joint International Meeting on Forestry Crime INTERPOL General Secretariat - Lyon, 22-23 June 2016

The meeting is an opportunity for Law Enforcement representatives from all over Europe and other major timber importing regions to exchange information about recent activities against illegal logging and corruption in the timber sector, and to discuss them with the INTERPOL Forestry Crime sub Working Group, organised during the TREES event.

10 Sep 2015 - SURVEY ON TIMBER CRIME

Fill here the Trees Project survey on timber crime and help us to investigate on criminal activities and corruption cases in forest and forest related sectors. The survey will take around 15 minutes. INTERPOL and the United Nations Environment Programme’s centre in Norway (UNEP GRID Arendal) are leading the Project Leaf (Law Enforcement Assistance for Forests), a climate initiative consortium against illegal logging and related crimes.

The Illegal logging portal, hosted and maintained by Chatham House, talks about TREES Project. The site reports the signed agreement between the NGO Elephant Action League and the partners of TREES Project for the use of the Elephant Action League-funded WildLeaks whistleblower platform.

23 July 2015 - Timber Regulation implementation table updated

The European Commission updated the table with information on the state of implementation of the Timber Regulation (EU 995/2010) by the EU Member States as regards whether they have complied with their obligations provided for by the Regulation.
The table does not include an assessment whether the penalties applicable to infringements of the provisions of the regulation laid down by the Member States are effective, proportionate and dissuasive. This table is available here.

Milan, 3 October 2014 - “TREES” project at the starting post!

The first official meeting of the partners in this EU-funded research project will be held on 3 October at Godega di Sant’Urbano (TV). The goal is to join efforts and toughen EU regulations in order to fight illegal wood trading.
